People are living longer, healthier, more fulfilling lives. Learn the secrets and how to afford them from four outstanding scholars this fall at the Aquarium of the Pacific.

The Aquarium, in partnership with Halbert Hargrove, is pleased to host the Fall 2019 Aquatic Academy course “Longevity: Changing the Narrative” during four evening sessions in October. Dates include Wednesday, Oct. 2., and Thursdays on Oct. 10, 17 and 24 from 7 to 9 p.m., and will be hosted inside the Aquarium’s new Honda Pacific Visions Theater.

Course Schedule

  • Wednesday, Oct. 2 – Laura Carstensen is the Fairleigh S. Dickinson Jr. Professor in Public Policy and professor of psychology at Stanford University, founding director of the Stanford Center on Longevity, and author of A Long Bright Future
  • Thursday, Oct. 10 – Don Ezra is a consultant and the author of Life Two: How to Get to and Enjoy What Used to be Called Retirement
  • Thursday, Oct. 17 – Steve Vernon is a consulting research scholar in the Stanford University Center for Longevity and author of Retirement Game-Changers: Strategies for a Healthy, Financially Secure, and Fulfilling Long Life
  • Thursday, Oct. 24 – Bill Burnett is the executive director of Stanford University’s Design Program and author (with Dave Evans) of Designing Your Life: How to Build a Well-Lived, Joyful Life

Cost: $40 for the series; $25 for Aquarium members and students. $10 extra for CEU credit from CSULB CCPE. Includes parking in Aquarium parking structure.
