In last week’s newsletter, we put out a call for readers to send in their favorite Long Beach cameos on film or television. Boy, did you deliver.

You could spend a whole weekend watching this abbreviated list of suggestions, just don’t take a shot every time you see Long Beach, or your binge-watching will end sooner than you planned:

  • Heather B. pointed to several scenes from “Anchorman” that were filmed in Long Beach, including several at Shoreline Village and a handful on the bridge leading to the Queen Mary (including the infamous dog punting scene).
  • Richard K. reached way back in the vault to highlight Long Beach showing up at the end of “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World” from 1963, specifically the climactic chase scene that shows a portion of Long Beach that predates the Pike Outlets.
  • Jane N. wrote in to say that Long Beach was all over “Barbie,” but her favorite scene came from the TV show “Hacks.” She said that, “Jean Smart is driving her beautiful blue Rolls Royce down the ‘Las Vegas Strip’ and the Villa Riviera (on Ocean Boulevard in Alamitos Beach) was right behind her.”
  • Long Beach was also in 2007’s “License to Wed” starring Robin Williams, which “filmed a lot around Third and Cedar,” Barya H. wrote in. He also pointed to the city’s role in several “CSI Miami” episodes.
