It’s my pleasure to announce the return of Extra Frames, a monthly photo series put together by our incredibly talented visuals editor Thomas Cordova.
Each month, he’ll publish a collection of photos taken by him, reporter John Donegan and our intern Samuel Chacko that captured the beauty and uniqueness of Long Beach but didn’t see the light of day in the stories we published. We hope it’ll make you see a new side of the city every month.
This month’s collection features a behind-the-scenes look at firefighters and paramedics, a SWAT standoff and a sunny day along the shoreline.

In case you haven’t yet heard, the Grand Prix is back on April 11-13 for its 50th edition. On Tuesday, during media day, we got a behind-the-scenes look, including the draft cars and a point-of-view lap around the track.
