Hundreds of cars filled the Long Beach Convention Center on Sunday for the 2022 Lowrider Los Angeles Super Show, a showcase of the lowrider community from Long Beach and beyond.
The show at the Long Beach Convention Center sold out due to the overwhelming response for vehicle space exhibit entries, which prompted organizers to acquire outdoor space adjacent to the venue, according to the organizers’ website, Lowrider Experience. Attendees flooded the venue as well.
María Dolores Marcías, 64, came from Pomona to the convention with her husband, who is part of the Oldies Car Club in San Diego. Macías said she grew up with a prominent lowrider culture alongside her brothers. But aside from admiring the cars for their uniqueness and beauty, Macías, who identifies as Chicana, said it’s important to keep this culture alive.
“Never lose your roots, language and tradition,” she said.
