Friday is your last chance to register for the 5th Annual “Virtual” Meals on Wheels of Long Beach 5K/10K Run, Walk and Roll, with proceeds supporting homebound seniors, veterans and others in need of having meals delivered to their door.

Due to the pandemic, the event was switched to a “virtual” race-in-place concept. So now, registrants, including runners, walkers and those in wheelchairs, can “compete” at their own pace, venue, and time, but the deadline to register for this is Friday (July 31) at noon.

Net proceeds from the virtual event will go to MOWLB’s home-delivered meal program, which provides meals and a friendly visit to low-income homebound seniors, veterans and the disabled in Long Beach, Signal Hill and Leisure World in Seal Beach.

“Your support of this event is more important than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic,” the announcement stated.

MOWLB is a nonprofit community service organization that, for nearly 50 years, has served those in need with nourishment and comfort.

Registration is $35 and is open through July 31 at noon, visit the link here. For those who have already registered, event t-shirts are available for drive-thru pick-up Saturday, Aug. 1 between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at Belmont Heights Methodist Church at 317 Termino Ave. For more info, visit mowlb.org.
