THURSDAY, NOV. 5

OK, bear with us on this one.

While we provide you with a plethora of fun to enrich your daily and weekend experiences—you’re welcome—you can’t really enjoy it if you’re sick. That’s why, today, you should go get a flu shot.

From 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. today you can head on down to the City of Long Beach Health and Human Services, Main Health Facility to receive a free flu shot. The service, hosted by the city’s department of health and human services, aims to reduce the number of flu outbreaks this season. And, they’re making it really easy for you. Anyone and everyone is eligible for the free shot and there’s also a drive-through option available—yes, you don’t even have to leave your car.

Look, you’ve no doubt made a checklist of must-sees and must-dos this month: strolling the waterfront lights in Naples; drinking one too many snowball old fashions at exorbitantly decorated bar-turned-Christmas pop-up, The Ordinarie; taking in all the holiday splendor at the Belmont Shore Christmas Parade; staging that perfect photo shoot in front of the lit-up Terrace Theater; catching the opulent performance that is the Long Beach Ballet’s Nutcracker.

But really, what good are any of your plans if you’re stuck at home, nose running, head pounding, with a trash bin full of used tissues and regret?

So, what’s a five second jab compared to a week—maybe two—of soul expunging illness? Nothing, that’s what.

Another great thing: Getting your flu shot is not just for your health, but for the betterment of your fellow man, because you should care.

Giving us a moment’s pause: Nothing is more beautiful than good health.

Free flu shots will be offered at Main Health of the City of Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services; 2525 Grand Ave. Walk-in and drive thru services will be available from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
