WEDNESDAY, DEC. 4

Not to put too fine a point on it, since we wrote a whole article about this a couple of days ago, but the 5th Annual Tree Lighting in front of the Long Beach Performing Arts Center, scheduled for today, is off. WAY OFF. Behold!

Annual Christmas Tree Lighting rescheduled due to forecasts of heavy rain

We know you’re busy and you may have missed our initial heads up, so we wanted to remind you that the lighting of the 50-foot Christmas tree won’t be happening today, though, the heavy rains that are likely pounding the pavement as you read this, may have already tipped you off to that.

The event, which will still include Long Beach Ballet dancing a section from “The Nutcracker,” Long Beach Opera’s Jennifer Rivera singing “Ave Maria,” appearances by the Long Beach Youth Chorus, Wilson High brass band, Mr. and Mrs. Claus, as well as lots of food trucks and  fireworks, has been rescheduled for Monday, Dec. 9. Behold!

Mayor Robert Garcia’s 5th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting is Monday, Dec. 9 at the Terrace Theater located at 300 E. Ocean Blvd. The event is free and runs from 5 p.m until 8 p.m. with the tree lighting ceremony commencing at 6 p.m. For more information and updates, you can follow the Facebook event page, here.
