WEDNESDAY, NOV. 27

Wednesdays are for wine, whether you’re sipping a glass while getting a head start preparing Thanksgiving (who’s bringing the cranberry sauce?!) or you’re out and about for Friendsgiving. Here’s a group of wine bars offering specials and other happenings this evening.

As District Wine would say, if District Wine were a person, “What’s a bottle of wine between friends? Empty.” Celebrate with your extended family at this East Village wine bar, where drink specials and a performance by songstress Taylor Crawford will make for a Friendsgiving full of warm fuzzy wine feels. Less ideal for a full Friendsgiving but perfect for a date or even a solo sip, tiny wine bar Art Du Vin situated snugly against the Art Theatre, offers $4 select pours on Wine Wednesdays. Farther East, Marina Wine Bar seems to know the secret to a fun Open Mic Night: a glass of wine, or two or three. Sign-ups start at 6 p.m. for musicians, singer/songwriters and cover performers itching to put on a show.

Another great thing: If you’re feeling less like imbibing and more in the spirit of giving, or the imbibing of spirits has you feeling like giving, keep in mind, there’s a host of local organizations accepting toy donations up until Christmas.

Giving us a moment’s pause: Whether you get that warm fuzzy feeling from Wine Wednesdays or bringing a smile to a child’s face with a toy donation, no one has to know.

Friends Giving runs 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at District Wine; 144 Linden Ave. For details, click here. Art Du Vin is open 5 to 11 p.m.; 2027 E. Fourth St. For more info, click here. Marina Wine’s open mic runs 7 to 10 p.m.; 194 N. Marina Drive. For more info, click here.
