Artist Jorge Mujica, whose formerly Long Beach-based studio, Creative Arts Coalition to Transform Urban Space, or CACtTUS, as it was better known, talks to Dirty Patti about what inspires his freestanding paintings. Most recently, he collaborated with 17 local artists to create the “Cactus Patch,” soon to be displayed at the new Billie Jean King Main Library in the Arts Council for Long Beach’s artist fellowship show. Mujica also saw a three-year project come to fruition this year, with a sculpture erected in Gumbiner Park in May.
