Today launches the first ever LongBeachize fall pledge drive. We’re hoping to raise $1,500 in donations and pledges over the next month to help keep us publishing well into 2015. To celebrate, we have a fun new partnership with New Belgian Brewing and The Blind Donkey at 149 Linden Avenue to bring a series of happy hours for Longbeachize readers tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
We’ll be holding a second one to wrap up the drive on 12/17. Same place, same time. And responsible riding as always.
The Happy Hours will bookend our one-year anniversary pledge drive. New Belgium Brewing is sponsoring the happy hour, which means drink specials on the most bike-friendly of beers.
While there is no charge (other than what you order), we are asking for your support today and for the next month. You can donate to LongBeachize by clicking here or by mailing a check to “Southern California Streets Initiative, c/o Damien Newton. 11539 National Blvd, LA CA 90064.”
We’ll be announcing some raffles prizes later this week for anyone who donates online, at the happy hour, or who has a check arrive in the mail before the drawing dates.
While we’ve picked up a couple of advertisers this year, our grants from the Long Beach Community Foundation and Vida Feliz Foundation expire with the year, so we need to rely on you, our readers, to keep going through 2015.
So, you can party with us. donate to keep us going, party with us, help us keep going into 2015, party with us and most of all, have fun.
Support our journalism.
Hyperlocal news is an essential force in our democracy, but it costs money to keep an organization like this one alive, and we can’t rely on advertiser support alone. That’s why we’re asking readers like you to support our independent, fact-based journalism. We know you like it—that’s why you’re here. Help us keep hyperlocal news alive in Long Beach.
