They say life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about dancing in the rain. But what about biking and walking when it pours? Long Beach locals Ivana and Sam love to roam the puddle-filled streets and alleyways around their Downtown men’s clothing boutique, The Academy. Geared with a Walk Long Beach walking loop card and an open mind, the two spent a wet morning wandering the East Village Arts District with photographer Lisa Beth Anderson of In Good Company for our latest installment of the Sidewalking Society. We believe sidewalks are meant for stopping just as much as they are for walking. Sidewalks should lead to sidetracks. They should allow us to appreciate our surroundings; for us to dwell on the details. Because if you look with the right attitude, there will always be new things to discover. We strive for a world where the destination and the journey are of equal importance. Above all; we know this: walking makes every day better here in Long Beach.
We are the Sidewalking Society.
Free news isn’t cheap.
We believe that everyone should have access to important local news, for free.
However, it costs money to keep a local news organization like this one—independently owned and operated here in Long Beach, without the backing of any national corporation—alive.
If independent local news is important to you, please consider supporting us with a monthly or one-time contribution. Read more.
