While the slogan “Rock the Vote” might be geared toward youth voters, “Walk the Vote” is meant for voters—and walkers—of all ages.
On November 4th, Walk Long Beach is encouraging all Long Beach voters to make a sincere effort to walk to their assigned polling place. Using the City’s polling place map, Walk Long Beach found that just about every Long Beach resident is within a ten-minute walk, or a half-mile of a voting booth. You can find your nearest Long Beach polling location here.
To make the experience more empowering, Walk Long Beach asks that participating voters share pictures of their walk (selfies encouraged) and tag #WALKTHEVOTE on social media outlets.
Walk Long Beach is a collaboration between the YMCA, City Fabrick, the City of Long Beach and other community groups focused on improving walkability and pedestrian health and safety in Long Beach.
