Roughly 40 firefighters doused a second-alarm fire Sunday morning at a two-story apartment building in Long Beach’s Alamitos Beach neighborhood, Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Capt. Jack Crabtree said.
Crews responded to reports of heavy smoke and fire at around 6:30 a.m. at 1103 E. Broadway, Crabtree said. Units on the second floor were “fully involved” in the flames, but firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze in about 15 minutes, Crabtree said.
No injuries were reported, Crabtree said, but the damage was bad enough that it displaced seven people living at the building.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Fire investigators were at the scene evaluating.
