The Long Beach police Gang Enforcement unit is investigating a shooting that sent two men to the hospital Monday evening.

Police responded to W. 31 Street near Silverado Park about 7:40 p.m. and found a man with a gunshot wound in his lower torso.

The man was transported to the hospital and a short time later, police learned of a second man who independently went to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Police say both men were injured in the same incident and are in stable condition.

Detectives are investigating and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Gang Enforcement Section at 562-570-7370.

In a separate incident, a man and a boy told police Monday night that a man shot at them near the intersection of Lemon Avenue and Salt Lake Street at about 9:40 p.m. Monday.

Officers found casings at the scene. No one was injured. The motive is not known and police are investigating.
