A driver died Saturday after she crashed into a light pole along Seventh Street in East Long Beach, according to authorities.

Few details were immediately available, but Long Beach police said the woman was driving eastbound on Seventh Street around 11:30 a.m. when she collided with a light pole. The driver’s car grazed several other parked, unoccupied vehicles before finally stopping just short of the sidewalk in front of a home on Los Altos Avenue at Seventh Street.

Upon arrival, the Long Beach Fire Department pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Authorities identified her as Stephanie Moreno, a 40-year-old resident of Long Beach.

There was one male passenger in the car who was treated at the scene by fire personnel for minor injuries, LBPD spokesperson Brandon Fahey said.

Pieces of metal debris and the driver’s side front wheel were strewn across the ground at the crash site. A neighbor who declined to give his name said he and his neighbors heard a “big bang” before they all rushed outside and discovered the wreckage.

A video sent to the Long Beach Post shows police and fire department personnel attending to a damaged grey sedan, with its horn still blaring, in the roadway on Los Altos Avenue.

Police shut down eastbound traffic along Seventh Street starting at Santiago Avenue. Part of Los Altos Avenue was also closed off to traffic.

Police have not yet identified what caused the crash and note that the investigation is still ongoing.
