Authorities on Friday identified a bicyclist who was struck by a car and killed in Long Beach.

Ian Martin, 62, of Long Beach was injured about 11 a.m. Wednesday on Los Coyotes Diagonal south of Palo Verde Avenue and died at a hospital, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

The 88-year-old Long Beach man who was driving the 2015 Toyota Corolla that hit Martin stopped and cooperated with investigators, according to the Long Beach Police Department, which reported that no charges were pending.

“The preliminary investigation revealed the bicyclist was traveling in the northbound bike lane of Los Coyotes Diagonal approaching Palo Verde Avenue on a green light, when just before entering the intersection and south of the crosswalk, the bicyclist made an unsafe lane change across all lanes of traffic in a northwesterly direction and collided with a 2015 Toyota Corolla that was traveling southbound on Los Coyotes Diagonal in the number two lane,” according to a police statement.
