Authorities identify man killed in shooting near Los Angeles River

A man who was shot to death near the Los Angeles River last month has been identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Isidro Martinez Garcia, 37, of Long Beach, was found by officers around 8:26 p.m. July 19 in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and the Los Angeles River, authorities said. He had been shot in the pelvis, authorities said.

Officers aided Martinez Garcia until Long Beach fire personnel responded to the scene to transport him to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.

A motive for the shooting has yet to be determined, and the investigation is ongoing. No further details were available.
