The residents of Bluff Park want to return historic charm to the Bluff Park neighborhood—one lamppost at a time.
On September 17, the Bluff Park Neighborhood Association (BPNA) is hosting a benefit at 6:30PM, titled “Some Enchanted Bluff Park Evening,” to raise money aimed at replacing the modern “cobra” streetlights in the neighborhood with the vintage lampposts found on East 1st Street, according to a release from the BPNA. The release noted the support of Councilwoman Suzie Price, and said the original lampposts are currently still being produced by the original manufacturer.
“Historic neighborhoods build community pride by bringing residents together for a common purpose,” said Councilwoman Suzie Price in a statement.
The project will be phased in over a number of years, according to the release.
Taking place inside a 1920s Hollywood Regency-style historic home, the benefit will feature visuals and songs from South Pacific, catering by Creme de la Creme, drinks and island food.
With limited space, advance tickets are required and must be purchased by September 1, according to the BPNA. Tickets cost $275 each, or $525 for two, and BPNA members save $10. For more information, call 562.433.4434 or email the BPNA at [email protected].
