One dog is presumed dead and one person is injured after a 65-foot boat crashed into the Long Beach breakwater late Wednesday night, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.

Department lifeguards responded when the powerboat collided with rocks at a high speed at 11:30 p.m., according to the LBFD.

Two people and two dogs were rescued from the water, according to the department. Another dog is still missing and presumed dead. One person was treated for minor injuries at the scene and released.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
