This week Cal State Long Beach’s (CSULB) class of 2016 will graduate, and for those seeking more information on who’s graduating at what time and where, here’s a brief guide to help, courtesy of the school’s website.
All ceremonies are held outdoors in the Central Quad and are about two hours long, according to CSULB. Guests must remain seated throughout the ceremony and may not block the view of others for purposes of taking pictures or videos. Guests will not be allowed to stand in the aisles during the ceremony.
Those graduating under the health and human sciences, liberal arts, arts and business fields will need tickets to for guests because of the large number of graduates at these largest ceremonies. Each student will receive eight tickets, which are available for graduates to pick up from the bookstore during cap and gown distribution. Children will also need tickets. For those with small children, the university recommends to view the ceremony in the live-streaming room, which does not require tickets.

When leaving campus they avoid accessing the 405 Freeway from 7th Street because of traffic congesting. Alternative routes are both Palo Verde Avenue and Bellflower Boulevard, from which both the 405 North and South can be accessed.

Where can I park for Commencement?
Graduates and their guests may park for free during Commencement in all student lots; Parking Lots: 1, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, or Parking Structures I, II, or III.
Do my guests and I have to pay to park at any of these places?
Parking is complimentary for Commencement, including metered parking.
Where do I board the free shuttle service?
Please view the Commencement Parking Map to see the shuttle stops in front of the Pyramid, at Parking Structure 2, Lot 6 and Lot 8A.
Where can elderly and disabled guests park?
Disabled guests with a handicapped placard may park in Lot 5 and 6. Please view the Commencement Parking Map to see all available lots for guest parking.
If I bring a limousine, where shall I send the driver?
There will be a uniformed officer at the West Campus Drive drop off area to direct limousines. Limousines may very briefly stop to allow passengers to disembark before leaving to park in Lot 14A. Please view the Commencement Parking Map.
What advice can I give my guests after parking their cars?
From the parking lots, walk along the thoroughfare edges, then go to the nearest intersection and follow the pedestrian sidewalk. Do not walk on the campus roadways and please do not jaywalk across. The ceremonies will take place on the southern portion of campus in the Central Quad. Drive by the Visitor Information Center (VIC) on Beach Drive for directions or any additional questions.
