Did you know that actually answering an e-mail from a potential client or someone with who you might want to build a business relationship is a good idea? May be you can put that one into the “no duh” category, but it seems that anyone who wants to compliment their marketing plan with a good e-mail marketing campaign should consider some basic tenants of business communications.

That’s according to Rieva Lesonsky, president of GrowBiz Media, a content and consulting company. Lesonsky penned a list of tips for the Los Angeles Regional Small Business Development Center, which is housed at Long Beach City College.

lbpost.com will be running monthly tips from the SBDC in its business section.

Lesonsky, formerly the editorial director for Entrepreneur Magazine, states that “despite the proliferation of social media, e-mail is still one of the most effective ways to connect with customers and build trust.”

Among her advice is to craft compelling subject lines, spend time making e-mails look well-designed with the aid of logos and art, create a newsletter that people will look forward to receiving and be immediately responsive to questions from e-mail recipients.
