Celebrating its first year in business and recognizing the community support it has received in Long Beach, local tea distributor Tenzo Tea has decided to give back with a recent donation of some of its products to the Long Beach Rescue Mission.
“Tenzo Tea was founded in Long Beach on July 1, 2016. We’ve been growing quickly in our first year, mainly because of the tremendous support of the Long Beach community,” said the company’s co-founder and CEO Steve O’Dell. “Rob and I became entrepreneurs to give back to our communities and this was the first of many steps to do just that.”
The company donated $8,000 in matcha—about a year’s supply for 25 to 40 people—to the homeless shelter last week, according to O’Dell.
“We really appreciate the communitea in Long Beach and think our matcha can provide something more for those who need it,” said co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer Robbie Page. “Matcha provides a healthy energy boost, tons of antioxidants, making it a great choice to improve overall well-being.”
While this is the company’s first time donating, the executives said they plan to continue annual donations and hope the donation serves as a strong example for other business leaders to follow.
