Eight people were injured in a two-way car collision near Cal State Long Beach this afternoon.

The Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) first received a call about the incident in the area of Seventh Street and West Campus Drive around 1:27PM, said LBFD spokesman Jake Heflin.

Eight people were transferred to a local hospital for injuries, including one person with moderate injuries and seven people with minor injuries.

Heflin said it’s possibly there were so many patients because a taxi cab, which may have had multiple passengers, was involved in the accident.

“We don’t know the number of how many people were in either vehicle,” Heflin said.
