The coroner’s office has identified a man who died after a car struck him while he was walking across a dark Carson street outside of a crosswalk, according to authorities.
Douglas Salguero, 48, was a Long Beach resident, coroner’s investigator Kelli Blanchard said.
Salguero was fatally injured about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, around Alameda and Monroe streets, Deputy Morgan Arteaga of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.
Investigators reviewed surveillance video from a nearby bar and determined the crash was accidental, Arteaga said.
The man now identified as Salguero crossed Alameda Street in an area without a crosswalk and away from street lights, she said.
The driver remained at the scene, Arteaga said.
