A Long Beach woman was killed when a car hit her near the Las Vegas strip Sunday night, according to authorities.
Chanthy Hout, 43, was crossing the street around 11:30 p.m. when the driver of a 2023 Kia EV6 going eastbound hit her, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The driver of the Kia had the right-of-way when the crash happened, according to police. They said Hout was crossing against the pedestrian signal on East Tropicana Avenue near Ocean Drive. The area is just east of Las Vegas Boulevard.
Hout suffered serious injuries and was transported by emergency personnel to Sunrise Hospital where she died, police said.
The driver of the Kia, meanwhile, remained at the scene where investigators determined he showed no signs of impairment, police said.
Las Vegas police said the investigation is ongoing.
A GoFundMe page has been created by Hout’s husband to cover the costs of her funeral services. The page has raised $2,376 of the $20,000 goal as of Thursday.
