In the spirit of educating the community about environmental sustainability, Councilmember Roberto Uranga has invited the Long Beach community to a day filled with recycling, education and tips to going-green, his office announced this week.

Earth Day Bixby Knolls—held this Saturday April 23, from 10:00AM to 3:00PM at 3737 Long Beach Boulevard, Long Beach, CA 90807—is being hosted in partnership between the City of Long Beach and local business owners as an effort to increase community environmental awareness.

“The Earth Day Bixby Knolls event is a wonderful way to celebrate Earth Day, through education about recycling programs, and is a great way for residents to do their part to conserve our precious natural resources,” said Councilmember Roberto Uranga in a statement. “I encourage residents to attend and learn more about local conservation efforts.”

The event will feature food trucks, live music, electronic device recycling, bike valet and mulch giveaway, as well as environmental booths, from both vendors and the City of Long Beach, showcasing free and subsidized programs for residents.

A youth bike swap program, rain barrels for sale and free shredding, with a limit of 5 boxes, will also be available on site, according to a release.
