New Summer Program Offers ‘S.A.F.E.’ Activities During Extended Park Hours
Today, Councilmember Steve Neal and the City Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine invites the public to kick off the Be S.A.F.E. Program, a collaborative summer-long series dedicated to providing family-friendly activities with extended park hours. So-called for its offering of “Summer Activities in a Friendly Environment,” the Be S.A.F.E. kickoff event at Houghton Park tonight will include a moon bounce, face painting and refreshments.
The program, starting today and running through August 30, will offer classes, sports, games, tournaments, and other activities every day from 6PM to 9PM (unless listed otherwise) at the following locations:
- Houghton Park, 6301 Myrtle Ave.
- Drake Park, 951 Maine Ave.
- Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 1950 Lemon Ave.
- Admiral Kidd Park, 2125 Santa Fe Ave.
- Scherer Park, 4600 Long Beach Blvd.
- Bixby Park, 130 Cherry Ave.
- Davenport Park, 2910 E. 55th Way, 5-8PM*
- Seaside Park, 14th Street at Chestnut Avenue, 4-7PM*
