Yesterday, Democrat Alan Lowenthal was sworn in to represent the newly drawn 47th Congressional District, officially sending the popular local politician to the national stage.

The ceremonial swear-in, as pictured, was conducted by newly reelected Republican John Boehner, the Speaker of the House.

Lowenthal’s district includes most parts of Long Beach, Cypress, Garden Grove, Lakewood, Los Alamitos, Rossmoor and Signal Hill.
