A $10,000 reward for information on a 2014 hit-and-run fatality in Long Beach was renewed for at least another 90 days by the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.
The reward was set to expire this week, but Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe recommended the extension.
On September 13, Long Beach police responded to calls of a hit-and-run crash shortly after midnight and found 20-year-old Daniel Gomez fatally injured on Spring Street, on the west side of El Dorado Park—lying in the street 115 feet past the initial area of impact.
Investigators believe Gomez was hit by a 2011-14 silver Honda Fit, based on debris left at the scene.
They believe the car should have had damage to the front bumper and hood, a broken headlamp, a broken or missing side mirror housing—all on the driver’s side—and possibly a damaged windshield.
After crashing into the victim, the vehicle left over 107 feet of locked-wheel skids before fleeing the scene, according to the LBPD.
The Board of Supervisors also renewed a $10,000 reward for the 2009 fatal shooting of 53-year-old lawyer Jeffrey Tidus who was was shot in the head in the driveway of his home in Rolling Hills Estates.
