Charges were filed earlier this week against four men and two women involved in the July 4, 2014 murder of 24-year-old Kayon Dafney of Long Beach, police said Friday.

The incident occurred on July 4 at about 12:33PM, when officers were dispatched to a call reporting shots fired near the 6500 block of Gardenia Avenue in North Long Beach. Upon arrival, they discovered 24-year-old Dafney in an alley in the 1900 block of East 65th Street. Dafney sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

After a lengthy and thorough investigation, which revealed the shooting occurred over an on-going gang dispute, six suspects were arrested in a two-day operation that took place on March 12 and March 13 and were charged this week.

Homicide detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, which resulted in the following charges being filed:

  • Anthony Chapple, 24, of Long Beach, was arrested on March 13 and is being charged with murder, use of a firearm during commission of a murder and gang allegation. His arraignment is scheduled for March 20.
  • Kerry Williams Jr., 25, of Long Beach, was arrested March 12 and is being charged with murder, use of a firearm during commission of a murder and gang allegation. His arraignment is scheduled for April 8.
  • Clyde Beasley, 48, of Westminster, was arrested March 13 and is being charged with murder, use of a firearm during commission of a murder and a gang allegation. His arraignment is scheduled for April 8.
  • Arielle Bingley, 25, of San Pedro, was arrested March 12 and is being charged with accessory after the fact. Her arraignment is scheduled for April 10.
  • Kerry Williams, Sr., 43, of Lakewood, was arrested March 12 and is being charged with accessory after the fact. His arraignment is scheduled for April 6.
  • Billie Gobert, 70, of Long Beach, was arrested March 12 and is being charged with accessory after the fact. Her arraignment date is pending.
