A traffic collision reported Monday night critically injured a male motorcyclist in his 30s and shut down the carpool lane and three main lanes on the Long Beach stretch of the Gardena (91) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The crash was reported at 7:23PM near Long Beach Boulevard, when multiple vehicles and a motorcycle collided on the eastbound 91 Freeway.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with major injuries, said Brian Fisk of the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD).

The lanes were reopened later Monday night.
