An innocent driver is hospitalized in serious condition today after a stolen vehicle suspect slammed into their pickup truck in Long Beach.

The crash was reported at approximately 5:07 p.m. Friday at Long Beach and Artesia boulevards near the Compton-Long Beach border. That’s near where Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies from the Compton Station identified a stolen car suspect and attempted to make a stop, according to CBS2.

The driver of the car, a silver Dodger Charger, failed to stop and deputies chased him for about two minutes, authorities said.

The suspect crashed into the white pickup driven by the victim, leaving both vehicles severely mangled. The driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital, where they were in the intensive care unit, CBS2 reported.

Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department were called and took the driver of the stolen Charger and a female passenger to a hospital in stable condition. CBS2 reported the stolen car suspect was detained by sheriff’s deputies at the hospital.
