Police say they have arrested a 46-year-old man on suspicion of fatally shooting a 31-year-old woman during an argument on a sidewalk in Central Long Beach.
The Sept. 7 shooting happened shortly before 5:20 a.m. on Long Beach Boulevard near 19th Street, according to Long Beach police.
Madison Coldiron, 31, died of a gunshot wound to the chest, according to police and the Medical Examiner’s office. Police said she was homeless. They did not say what the argument was about.
On Tuesday, Special Investigations detectives arrested Long Beach resident Cedric Barnes, 46, near the intersection of Vernon Street and Olive Avenue on suspicion of murdering Coldiron, police said.
Barnes was booked into jail and was being held on $2 million bail.
Detectives do not believe Barnes and Coldiron knew each other before the shooting, police said.
