Police say they’ve arrested a Long Beach man on suspicion of stabbing a man and a 7-year-old boy, who police say are all relatives.
The attack happened on 15th Street near Linden Avenue in the Central Long Beach area on Sunday morning shortly after midnight, authorities said.
The man and boy arrived at a local hospital with non-life-threatening wounds to their upper bodies and were later released, police said.
Upon arrival at the crime scene, officers learned that the suspect was still at the location along with family members, and the family members were escorted out of the home, police said.
The suspect, Axel Gomez, 38, was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and child endangerment, police said. The motive for the stabbing is unknown, but police said they don’t believe the 7-year-old was the target of the stabbing.
Gomez was being held at the Long Beach Jail on $100,000 bail, police said.
