Authorities have identified the man fatally shot in a Long Beach alley as Juan Moreno, a 40-year-old homeless man, according to the coroner’s office.
His death stems from an incident on Tuesday in which officers were sent to an alley near Seventh Street and Cerritos Avenue at 4:15 p.m. for a shooting call and found a man with wounds to his upper body, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The victim, now identified as Moreno died at the scene, police said.
“The exact motive for the shooting is currently unknown,” a police statement said. “However, the victim and suspect were involved in an altercation with each other prior to the shooting.”
