A man who robbed victims after luring them with an online ad was arrested last week and the Long Beach Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying other possible victims or witnesses.

According to the LBPD, the 21-year-old suspect—a resident of Long Beach—posted a personal advertisement online in order to create meetings with victims near the 5200 block of Orange Avenue between January 3 and January 6. Upon contact, the suspect would demand belongings from the victims, including cell phones, money and keys.

The suspect was soon under surveillance by the LBPD, after which he was arrested and charged with two counts of robbery by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Though none of the three victims were physically harmed, the LBPD is fearful that other victims could exist and are urging the public to step forward with additional information should anyone have any.

Those with more information should contact Robbery Detective Mark Steenhausen at 562-570-7465. Anonymous tips may be submitted by calling 800-222-TIPS (8477), texting TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org.
