A man told police he was driving in North Long Beach when someone shot him around 5:45 this morning.

Officers were called to a local hospital at about 8 a.m. and talked to the victim who had a non-life threatening gunshot would to his upper body, police spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said. The man told police he was driving in the area of Long Beach and Artesia boulevards when his vehicle was shot at.

“Evidence consistent with bullet impact was located on the victim’s vehicle,” De Prez said, but officers were unable to find a crime scene.

Police do not have a description of a suspect or know of a motive so far, but gang detectives are investigating, she said.
