A 23-year-old man was stabbed after an argument with a man believed to be experiencing homelessness in the Alamitos Beach area of Long Beach Saturday night, police said.

Officers first arrived at Orange Avenue near Sixth Street for a call about a person with a gun at around 11:15 p.m. Instead, they found the 23-year-old with a minor stab wound to his upper body, police said.

The victim, who was treated at the scene by paramedics, said that he and two other people were at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Broadway when the suspect approached them, an argument began, and it escalated to the stabbing, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing. No arrests were reported.
