Two men showed up at different hospitals Tuesday night suffering from gunshot wounds, but neither would tell Long Beach police much about the shootings, officials said.

The first man, who was in his 20s, arrived at a Downey hospital just before 11 p.m., and about an hour later, a 21-year-old showed up at a hospital in Long Beach, police said. Neither man would tell officers who interviewed them exactly where the shootings happened, according to LBPD spokesman Brandon Fahey.

Each victim said he was “walking outside in Long Beach when he heard shots and realized that he been struck by gunfire,” Fahey said.

Neither man’s wounds were life threatening, Fahey said. Police do not know a motive for the shootings and no further information was available. Fahey later said police have no reason to believe they are related.

Police asked that anyone with information regarding the incidents contact investigators at 562-570-7370. Anonymous tips may be submitted by calling 1-800-222-8477 or visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org.
