Yesterday, Long Beach police announced the recent arrest of six suspects as part of efforts to curb metal theft issues throughout the city.

Working closely with the Long Beach Police Department’s (LBPD) Burglary Detail and connecting with recycling centers, officers from the North Division Metal Theft Impact Team (MTIT) were able to help prosecutors file criminal cases against the following individuals:

  • Daniel Shubin, 34, of Long Beach, charged with possession of stolen utility wire
  • Anthony Isaacson, 24, of Anaheim, charged with grand theft of copper
  • James Harris, 28, of Long Beach, charged with possession of copper wire without documentation
  • Corey Harden, 19, of Los Angeles, charged with two counts of residential burglary
  • Jesse Pagan, 25, of Long Beach, charged with residential burglary
  • Joshua Lindsey, 18, of Long Beach, charged with residential burglary

Officials said they will continue the MTIT—a pilot program that began in January after officers attended a statewide metal theft investigation course—because of its success.

Thieves typically steal copper and metal wiring from schools, park and city light poles, commercial yards and vacant buildings, with monetary losses well into the thousands, according to officials.
