The Long Beach Police Department reported three separate stabbings and a shooting throughout the city overnight.

Of the four incidents, police arrested a man suspected of stabbing two men in the Waterfront area in Downtown Long Beach Sunday morning, according to authorities.

At around 2:40 a.m., officers were dispatched to Pine Avenue near Seaside Way and found two men, ages 27 and 32, suffering from non-life-threatening stab wounds to their upper bodies, police said. The Long Beach Fire Department transported one victim to a local hospital, and the other victim transported himself to a local hospital, authorities said.

Security guards in the area detained the suspect before police arrested him at the scene, police said. A preliminary investigation of the incident revealed that an argument between the two victims and suspect escalated to a stabbing, police said.

50-year-old Kendall Smith, of Los Angeles, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, police said. His bail was set at $60,000.

Stabbing near Downtown

At 5:30 a.m., officers said they responded to a stabbing incident at the intersection of Sixth Street and Locust Avenue near the Downtown area. Upon arrival, they found a 43-year-old man with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body, police said.

Paramedics evaluated the victim and he transported himself to a local hospital, authorities said.

A woman allegedly stabbed the man during an argument, and she fled on foot before the officers arrived at the scene, police said. The suspect and the victim know each other, they said.

Police are unsure of the motive and are continuing to investigate the incident.

Stabbing at Naples Island

At around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, officers found a 43-year-old man with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the “upper extremities” at Naples Island on Second Street near Ravenna Drive, according to police.

The fire department transported the victim to a local hospital, authorities said.

The preliminary investigation revealed a man approached the victim, they had an argument and it escalated to a stabbing, police said. The suspect fled westbound on foot, they said.

Police don’t know the motive and the investigation is ongoing.

Shooting in Central Long Beach leaves one wounded

Police are also investigating a shooting that left a 29-year-old man wounded in Central Long Beach Saturday night, authorities said.

Officers responded at around 11 p.m. to the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between Ninth Street and Nardo Court and found the victim with gunshots to his lower body and evidence of a crime scene, police said.

The victim was transported by the fire department to a local hospital and he is in stable condition, authorities said.

The suspect(s) fled the scene, possibly in a dark color sedan, police said.

The motive for the shooting is unknown, and investigation remains ongoing.
