A man was arrested yesterday in Seal Beach after holding another man at knifepoint in a parking lot, police said.

Christopher Patino-Guzman, 20, was arrested inside a CVS Pharmacy on suspicion of assaulting a man with a deadly weapon, according to a statement from Seal Beach police.

Officers said the incident happened at around 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28 at 921 Pacific Coast Highway when a man exiting his car was approached by Patino-Guzman. Police said Patino-Guzman allegedly brandished a knife and held it inches away from the neck of the man, who “feared for his life.”

“The suspect did not say anything, nor did he demand money or property,” according to a statement by the Seal Beach Police Department. “Seconds later, the suspect withdrew the knife from the victim’s neck and entered the CVS Pharmacy.”

Police arrived soon after and arrested Patino-Guzman inside the store. No injuries were reported.

At this time, the motive for the alleged assault is still unclear. SBPD is handling the investigation.

Orange County jail records show Patino-Guzman is being held on $25,000 bail. Police said he is a resident of Arlington, Virginia, and jail records listed his occupation as “unemployed.”
