A Signal Hill man was arrested Friday in connection with the sexual assault of a 53-year-old mentally impaired woman.

The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) said the assault occurred on January 14 of this year at about 1:30AM in a parking lot in the area of 15th St. and Long Beach Blvd.

LBPD Sex Crimes Detectives received a tip regarding the incident on October 16 and worked with Vice Detectives to further the investigation and locate the suspect, identified as David Faavale Tautolo, 32, of Signal Hill. Tautolo was located in the area of Warren and Anaheim St. on October 17 and was arrested without incident.

Long Beach Police Sex Crimes Detectives presented the case today to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office (LADA) for filing consideration. The LADA filed eight felony counts against Tautolo, including charges of sexual assaults, criminal threats and kidnapping.

He is being held in Long Beach City Jail on $4.5M bail.
