The California Highway Patrol yesterday sought the public’s help identifying two people who ran from a possible street-racing crash in the Paramount area that slightly injured an 8-year-old girl.

A witness reported about 10:20 p.m. Monday that two vehicles—a green Honda Civic and a dark-colored sedan with its lights off—were street racing at high speeds on the eastbound 105 Freeway, according to the CHP.

The Honda made an unsafe turning movement and struck the rear of a black Ford Fusion, causing both vehicles to overturn east of Paramount Boulevard, the CHP reported.

“After the collision, the two occupants from the Honda Civic fled the scene on foot, in spite of efforts from other persons at the scene to detain them,” according to a CHP statement. “Following a brief struggle, both suspects managed to escape by fleeing up the freeway embankment. They were last seen in the vicinity of a Shell gas station on Paramount Boulevard south of I-105.”

The street-racers were described as men between 20 and 30.

The injured girl, who complained of pain, was treated at the scene and released.
