Long Beach police responded to three separate calls of shots fired overnight, leaving three men wounded over a span of a few hours.
11:25 p.m. | Saturday night, officers met with a victim at a hospital who said he was shot while walking in the area of 23rd Street and Pasadena Avenue in Central Long Beach, police said. The victim suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the lower body, police said.
Officers visited the area but were unable to find a crime scene, police said. They were also unable to identify a motive or suspect information.
1:55 a.m. | Sunday morning officers responded to a second shooting in the area of Plymouth Street near Cedar Avenue in North Long Beach and only found evidence of bullet casings around unoccupied vehicles that were struck by gunfire, police said. They were unable to find any victims or suspects and were unable to identify the motive of the shooting, police said.
2:30 a.m. | Officers found two men, each with gunshot wounds to the lower body, at the 5400 block of Paramount Boulevard in North Long Beach. The victims told police an SUV approached them, a man got out of the vehicle, fired shots at them, and fled the area in the vehicle, police said. The victims then fled the area on foot.
Paramedics transported the victims to a local hospital for treatment of their non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, police said.
Officers found evidence of the shooting, including bullet casings and a nearby residence that was struck by gunfire, police said. No other injuries were reported, and no additional suspect information is available, they said.
Police believe the motive for this shooting is “gang-related,” which the LBPD defines as any crime committed “for the benefit of, at the direction of or in association with any criminal street gang.”
Police are investigating these three separate shootings and say that they believe they are unrelated to each other.
