Police say they’re looking for the driver of a tractor-trailer truck who hit a bicyclist and then left the scene of the crash in North Long Beach Wednesday night.

The bicyclist, a 56-year-old woman from Bellflower, died shortly after the crash, according to authorities.

Police said the truck hit her at the intersection of Artesia Boulevard and Downey Avenue around 9 p.m., leaving her with serious injuries.

“The Long Beach Fire Department responded and attempted life saving measures, but the female bicyclist succumbed to her injuries at the scene,” police said.

Authorities haven’t publicly identified the woman. They asked anyone who’s seen the truck—described as a semi-truck with a white cab and large white trailer—to call investigators at 562-570-7355.
