A man told police he was shot a few blocks north of Downtown Long Beach on Thursday night, but he wouldn’t divulge much more information about what happened, according to authorities.

Police said they learned about the shooting when the man arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower torso around 8:45 p.m. The injury wasn’t life-threatening, police said.

“The victim was uncooperative and told officers he was shot in the area of 10th Street and Locust Avenue,” Long Beach police spokesman Ben Hearst said.

Police couldn’t find any evidence of a shooting near that intersection, Hearst said.

It wasn’t clear what type of gun was used, and there wasn’t any information on a suspect or a motive available, according to police.

Investigators asked anyone with details to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting lacrimestoppers.org.
