Detectives arrested two men and seized 16 guns ranging from handguns to automatic rifles after serving two search warrants on Friday for illegal manufacturing and trafficking of firearms, Long Beach police said.
“In August 2021, the Coordinated Response Team began an investigation into a suspect selling illegal firearms and firearm parts,” LBPD spokesperson Allison Gallagher said in an email. “Through their investigation, detectives secured two search warrants and the DA’s Office filed multiple felony charges on two suspects.”
Police arrested and booked Oscar Rincon, 36, and Edgar Araujo, 22, on suspicion of illegal manufacturing and trafficking of firearms. LBPD’s response team, which focuses on reducing gun violence, and the FBI detained Rincon of Downey, and Araujo of Los Angeles, after serving search warrants in those cities.
Bail was set at $1 million each for Rincon and Araujo. LBPD added that this is an ongoing investigation.
