The story of the staff changes at the Long Beach Press-Telegram is indicative of the rapidly declining quality of print news in America. With profits waning, the Press-Telegram’s parent company has shifted power over the publication to Torrance’s Daily Breeze. In addition to a newspaper outside of Long Beach running the only Long Beach daily newspaper, several staff writers were let go Friday, The District reports, leaving the Press-Telegram with just ten full-time writers to cover the area.
So, in an effort to scoop water out of a sinking ship with plastic buckets, the Press-Telegram said goodbye to several competent writers in order to save funds.
