Two men were injured Saturday night in North Long Beach when a driver rear-ended them while they were pushing a disabled vehicle out of traffic lanes, according to Long Beach police.
About 10:52 p.m., officers responded to a call about a crash near Artesia Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue, Long Beach Police Department spokesperson Richard Mejia said in an email.
The investigation is ongoing but so far indicates one man was driving when his vehicle became disabled, so he pulled over and started to push it out of the road; a second man came over to help.
A woman in another car crashed into the men and the vehicle they were pushing, leaving one man with “non-life-threatening injuries” to his lower body and the other man in “critical but stable condition” with significant injuries, Mejia’s email said.
Everyone involved stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to Mejia.
